Title:
Kerberized NFS mounts not working on Raspberry PI

Status in linux-raspi package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Kerberized NFS mounts stopped working on Raspberry Pi starting with Ubuntu
21.10. In 22.10 the issue still exists.
The reason is that the kernel module rpcsec_gss_krb5 which is needed for
establishing a kerberos protected NFS connection to the server has been removed
from the kernel image and put to the linux-modules-extra package instead.
In my particular case it was:
  linux-image-5.19.0-1011-raspi
Trying to mount the NFS share resulted in the following error message:

mount.nfs: an incorrect mount option was specified

I did not find any documentation stating that the linux-modules-extra
package needs to be installed and the kernel module has to be loaded
  manually.

So my expectation would be either to update the documentation or to
move rpcsec_gss_krb5 back to the kernel image.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1981933] Re: ACPI BIOS Error (bug) Could not resolve symbols

2022-07-27 Thread tea for one
I also see these warning messages if I select a kernel newer than
5.15.0-33-generic.
Kernels 5.15.0-39-generic and 5.15.0-41-generic both display the warning
messages.
The PC still boots normally and there doesn't seem to be any adverse
performance.
Ubuntu 22.04 fully up-to-date

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1954340] Re: Fan stopped working after firmware upgrade

2021-12-14 Thread One
I got the problem resolved. I went to Lenovo's Website:

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-
netbooks/thinkpad-p-series-
laptops/thinkpad-p15s-gen-2-type-20w6-20w7/20w6/20w6001nus/downloads/driver-
list/component?name=BIOS%2FUEFI

And got the firmware from there (version 1.46). It had two files in it.
'N34ET46W.cab' said it was already installed and 'ThinkPad-
EmbeddedControllerFirmware-1.37.cab' installed and when it booted back
up the fan was working again.

Fan stopped working after firmware upgrade

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
There was a firmware upgrade available this morning that I did. After
that when I boot up my computer I noticed it was getting very hot. I
then realized that the fan was no longer blowing. I don't remember
exactly what the upgrade notes said but I recall it had something to
do with either fan or CPU. The fan works before the OS starts but once
the computer starts to boot the fan stops blowing even if the computer
is very hot (Over 90 degrees Celsius).

  Possible confounding factors:
My boot partition was too small and I was getting problems doing
installations. I've since reinstalled to increase the size.

  1) lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 21.10
  Release: 21.10

  2) Not sure which package. Occurred after a firmware upgrade I
  installed this morning.

  3) I expect the fan to blow like I used to (I think it was always on
but for sure it would come on if the temperature went up)

  Celsius.

Is there a work around I can use in the meanwhile to maybe set the fan

Title:
Fan stopped working after firmware upgrade

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

  4) The fan does not come on even if the CPU temp goes over 90 degrees
  Celsius.

but for sure it would come on if the temperature went up)

  4) The fan does not come on even if the CPU temp goes over 90 degrees
  Celsius.

Title:
Fan stopped working after firmware upgrade

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

  4) The fan does not come on even if the CPU temp goes over 90 degrees

Title:
Fan stopped working after firmware upgrade

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

  4) The fan does not come on even if the CPU temp goes over 90 degrees
  Celsius.

Fan stopped working after firmware upgrade

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

  4) The fan does not come on even if the CPU temp goes over 90 degrees
  Celsius.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1954340] Re: Fan stopped working after firmware upgrade

2021-12-10 Thread One
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

There was a firmware upgrade available this morning that I did. After
that when I boot up my computer I noticed it was getting very hot. I
then realized that the fan was no longer blowing. I don't remember
exactly what the upgrade notes said but I recall it had something to do
with either fan or CPU. The fan works before the OS starts but once the
computer starts to boot the fan stops blowing even if the computer is
very hot (Over 90 degrees Celsius).

  Possible confounding factors:
My boot partition was too small and I was getting problems doing
installations. I've since reinstalled to increase the size.

  1) lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 21.10
  Release: 21.10

  2) Not sure which package. Occurred after a firmware upgrade I installed
  this morning.

  3) I expect the fan to blow like I used to (I think it was always on but
for sure it would come on if the temperature went up)

  4) The fan does not come on even if the CPU temp goes over 90 degrees
  Celsius.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1566302] Re: Ubuntu 16.04: Suspend freezes the system after upgrade to linux image 4.4.0-16

2016-08-11 Thread mint-one
Ok, I was able to fix this on my Dell Inspiron 3551. The solution was a
superclean fresh installation of ubuntu16.04 with the latest bios
installed and secure boot off. Everything (suspend/wake/restart) works
now with the latest ubuntu default kernel (XX-34). But don't aks me why
or what went wrong before.

Ubuntu 16.04: Suspend freezes the system after upgrade to linux image
  4.4.0-16

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  I'm using ubuntu 16.04 on a XPS 15 9550.

Suspend/resume worked flawlessly with linux image 4.4.0-15, and after
standard upgrade yesterday (5/04/2016) which installed image 4.4.0-16,
the system freezes when attempting a suspend. I get no response from
the system (nor keyboard, nor screen, nor touchpad), but it gets very
hot, so that it must be running something.

Booting with 4.4.0-15 makes the suspend to work perfectly.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1566302] Re: Ubuntu 16.04: Suspend freezes the system after upgrade to linux image 4.4.0-16

2016-08-10 Thread mint-one
Same here on Dell Inspiron 3351 using ubuntu 16.04.1 with the latest
kernel (currently 4.4.0-34). System won't wake up after suspend and the
screen remains dark. Restart and shutdown won't finish and hang on the
shutdown screen. I have to switch it off manually.

The installation of the latest bios (A05) didn't improve the situation.
I also tried various mainline kernels (4.4.8, 4.8rc, 3.19). The issue
still persists. Ok, the laptop works, but this bug is quite annoying.
