Hi Christopher, it think you're on the wrong track.
linux-image-4.4.0-rc8-touchpad_4.4.0-rc8 is just the rc8 kernel with the
patches for the touchpad driver
downloaded here: http://www.godisbeautiful.net/4.4rc8deb/
the fix will go mainline in 4.5

I had tested that kernel as well, the touchpad doesnt work.
