Title:
Acer Logitech, Inc. Orbicam fails to start working.

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete
Status in linux package in Fedora:
  Unknown

Bug description:
  Problem description:
Logitech, Inc. Orbicam (ID 046d:0896) doesn't work with Cheese (green led on
cam doesn't light up and no images appear) unless we run Cheese multiple
consecutive times. Webcam doesn't work with Skype too (no images and led turned
off).
This problem has started when Ubuntu 10.10 was installed (kernel
2.6.35-27-generic - 64 bits). Webcam was working at Ubuntu 10.04 (all kernel
versions released until Mar-08 / 2011).

  Ubuntu version:
  Distributor ID: Ubuntu
  Description: Ubuntu 10.10
  Release: 10.10
  Codename: maverick

  Kernel version:
  Linux 2.6.35-27-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 22 20:25:46 UTC 2011 x86_64
GNU/Linux

  Steps to reproduce the bug:

  (With Cheese)
  1. run Cheese - green led on cam doesn't light up and a black screen appears
instead of the image.
  2. close Cheese and start it again.
  3. If the cam still doesn't work, repeat step 2.

  (With Skype 2.1.0.81)
  1. run Skype (/usr/bin/skype-wrapper)
  2. Log in as a valid user.
  3. At the main menu, click Options, and then click the Video tab on the
left
  4. Enable Skype Video. Check the box next to Enable Skype Video.
  5. Open the pull-down menu of devices. Select the device (sometimes it
appears as /dev/video0 and sometimes as /dev/video1).
  6. Click at the Test webcam button.
  7. Green led on cam doesn't light up and a black screen appears instead of
the image.

  Expected results:
Cam led lights up and image appears when Cheese is started.
Cam led lights up and image appears in the web cam test at Skype.

There are no problems with future updates with apt-get. It doesn't try
to reinstall it and no pending updates available.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1171251] Re: 174f:5a31 Webcam is no longer detected

2013-10-28 Thread Sezer Yalcin
Webcam works fine on 10.04 LTS live usb image. It has kernel 2.6.32-38
I will try to check that bisection thing soon but logs tell that this could be
related to usb power settings.
I believe this worked with 3.x kernel sometime, I will try to find that too.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1171251] Re: 174f:5a31 Webcam is no longer detected

2013-08-07 Thread Sezer Yalcin
I don't see a change in 3.11 kernel. It detected webcam and works for some
seconds then after a while it stops. Then /dev/video0 totally disappear.
This is the same behavior with current 3.2.0-51 kernel.
Previously I tested other 3.x kernels.
