[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1855757] Re: [nvidia] Background image corrupted after standby or resume from suspend
I installed the focal-proposed updates yesterday, just checked and I can confirm the background corruption issue is still there, tho it's not as much as before. Before it used to change to a complete grey static, but now the wallpaper is still visible to an extent. I'll attach a screenshot. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2021-01-16 09-44-49.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1855757/+attachment/5453618/+files/Screenshot%20from%202021-01-16%2009-44-49.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1855757 Title: [nvidia] Background image corrupted after standby or resume from suspend Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-340 package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-435 package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in mutter source package in Focal: Confirmed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-340 source package in Focal: Won't Fix Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 source package in Focal: Won't Fix Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-435 source package in Focal: Won't Fix Bug description: Looks similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1809407 When the computer goes to standby, the background image becomes corrupted. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1835660] Re: initramfs unpacking failed
Ubuntu put it at lz4 by default, so my gut tells me that'll give the fastest boot time. I didn't change lz4 to anything, just ran this command to get rid of the error: sudo update-initramfs -c -k $(uname -r) I believe you have to run this command everytime certain packages are updated. Runnning: Ubuntu 20.04.1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1835660 Title: initramfs unpacking failed Status in initramfs-tools package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: "initramfs unpacking failed: Decoding failed", message appears on boot up. If I "update-initramfs" using gzip instead of lz, then boot up passes without decoding failed message. --- However, we currently believe that the decoding error reported in dmesg is actually harmless and has no impact on usability on the system. Switching from lz4 to gzip compression, simply papers over the warning, without any benefits, and slows down boot.
