[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1850439] Re: No sound on ASUS UX534FT
I ran all 4 commands posted by Erikas in #150. I am not sure what fixed it as I did not stop to test between commands. But I made it an sh script as Viktor suggested. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1850439 Title: No sound on ASUS UX534FT Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hi, after instal Ubuntu in dual boot alongside Windows 10, I've realised there is no sound coming out of mine new ASUS Zenbook 15 UX534FT- AA024R in Ubuntu. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1850439] Re: No sound on ASUS UX534FT
Thanks to the 4 commands above, internal speakers and headphones connected via audio jack work perfectly fine on UX534FTC. Microphone was extremely scratchy and full of static, however this was fixed simply via putting mic boost to zero with alsamixer. I have used a USB-C headphone with mic (cost 10 bucks) and both the audio and mic work really well. Now I don't have to boot to windows just for zoom meetings. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1846090] Re: Asus UX580GD (GDX1505:00 27C6:01F1) Touchpad (LCD) screen support
hi, Sorry for the late reply. ASUS does not produce any drivers for linux. Keep in mind this is for the ux534, I have no idea if this will work on other screenpad laptops. It works out of the box, both on wayland and xorg. However, often the laptop will not detect it as a second display, but this is usually fixed by suspending and resuming your session (close laptop lid, wait for it to suspend, open it back up). https://i.imgur.com/RMTTFfZ.jpg Because there are no drivers, you can't really adjust brightness. One workaround is to boot into windows, set the touchpad to max brightness, then boot into ubuntu. It will remember your brightness configuration. If you run xorg you can then use xrandr to dim it artificially. I don't know how to do this on wayland, if someone can point me to a wayland CLI tool equivalent to xrandr that would be great. Other than the brightness annoyance I prefer using it on ubuntu than on windows. The asus app kind of makes it worse experience in some ways. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-435 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846090 Title: Asus UX580GD (GDX1505:00 27C6:01F1) Touchpad (LCD) screen support Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-435 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu does not support asus zenbook pro UX580GD screenpad (touchpad and screen - all in one) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.0.0-29.31~18.04.1-generic 5.0.21 Uname: Linux 5.0.0-29-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_modeset nvidia .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus..01.00.0: Error: [Errno 21] Is a directory: '/proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/:01:00.0' .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: "" .proc.driver.nvidia.suspend: suspend hibernate resume .proc.driver.nvidia.suspend_depth: default modeset uvm .proc.driver.nvidia.version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 435.21 Sun Aug 25 08:17:57 CDT 2019 GCC version: gcc version 7.4.0 (Ubuntu 7.4.0-1ubuntu1~18.04.1) ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.7 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/log/boot.log' CompositorRunning: None CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Tue Oct 1 00:53:26 2019 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: bionic DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: nvidia, 435.21, 5.0.0-29-generic, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 5.2.32, 5.0.0-29-generic, x86_64: installed DpkgLog: ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Device [8086:3e9b] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1846090] Re: Asus UX580GD (GDX1505:00 27C6:01F1) Touchpad (LCD) screen support
My screenpad will work if I set to Intel graphics *only*. You may have to restart. I have ASUS Zenbook 15 UX534FTC. The other issue is that there's no way to change true brightness (ie not just changing the color via xrandr) on the screenpad. Not sure if a bug or just a lack of functionality in Ubuntu handling external HDMI displays. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-435 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846090 Title: Asus UX580GD (GDX1505:00 27C6:01F1) Touchpad (LCD) screen support Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-435 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu does not support asus zenbook pro UX580GD screenpad (touchpad and screen - all in one) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.0.0-29.31~18.04.1-generic 5.0.21 Uname: Linux 5.0.0-29-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_modeset nvidia .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus..01.00.0: Error: [Errno 21] Is a directory: '/proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/:01:00.0' .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: "" .proc.driver.nvidia.suspend: suspend hibernate resume .proc.driver.nvidia.suspend_depth: default modeset uvm .proc.driver.nvidia.version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 435.21 Sun Aug 25 08:17:57 CDT 2019 GCC version: gcc version 7.4.0 (Ubuntu 7.4.0-1ubuntu1~18.04.1) ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.7 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/log/boot.log' CompositorRunning: None CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Tue Oct 1 00:53:26 2019 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: bionic DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: nvidia, 435.21, 5.0.0-29-generic, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 5.2.32, 5.0.0-29-generic, x86_64: installed DpkgLog: ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Device [8086:3e9b] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1857991] [NEW] Realtek ALC294 Audio won't work on Ubuntu on the ASUS Zenbook 15 UX534FTC
Public bug reported: This seems to be the exact same bug as reported here, apparently it was fixed for some older zenbooks, however my laptop model is the new Zenbook 15; https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1810214 The bug is: Basically - audio simply does not work. I've tried the usual messing around with alsa to no avail. I didn't get that far as I found this bug via googling, apparently it was fixed for older zenbooks (even the UX533, the precursor to my current). I saw in the thread that I ought to make a new thread for this so I did.
