Searching around on the internet, the driver that can correctly use the aforementioned joystick model is: ``` ID 2f24:0091 GAME FOR WINDOWS 1.02 ```. This is in fact the result I get by adding "hid-nintendo" to the blacklist, managing to use everything correctly. Now, the problem is definitely in the upstream, because I've had the same problem in other systems with recent kernels. I running this ubuntu in a VirtualBox. It seems the error started since I tried to install the correct VirtualBox GuestExtensions. In previous version there wasn't this problem. One question. If i disable the "radeon module", this mean that I will use only the Intel card? Public bug reported: I used to be able to send files over bluetooth from my smartphone to my ubuntu laptop. Then at some point bug 958661 appeared, where the undiscoverable setting for receiving files over bluetooth (which cannot be found under any bluetooth-related setting) was turned off without a reason, and also, at random times Ubuntu would start to reject all transfer despite that setting being turned on - but at least there was the workaround to manually switch the setting off and on which would "fix" the issue. Now after upgrading to 15.10 I am simply UNABLE to send any file via bluetooth from the android phone to the ubuntu laptop. ALL transfers systematically fail. On the phone side, sometimes I get "connectuion failed" and sometimes "transfer rejected on target" (I am quoting the messages by memory, so the wording may not be exact). Something as trivial and vital as transfering files over bluetooth is still broken (and gets more broken at every upgrade) after so many years. This is outrageous. FIRST Hence, if you are not willing to help debug this at all, how would you expect any developers to want to work on your issue? It is not my issue, it's everybody's issue. I just happen to be somebody who experienced and reported it. I don't expect anything from any developer if by expect we mean think they should or have to. But if by expect we mean merely to regard as probable or likely; anticipate, then given that there are developers who work in improving and fixing Ubuntu, whatever is the reason that moves them to devote their effort to make Ubuntu a better software (something I appreciate and for which I'm infinitely grateful), I do expect them to be interested in fixing a bug regardless of whether the person who reported it is able (or willing) to do any extra work. Because whether or not I do, the bug is there. That's what I would do if somebody reported to me a bug in some piece of software I had written (or which I happened to be maintaining) SECOND by not testing the upstream kernel, you are limiting the developers who are going to look at this to only downstream (Ubuntu) developers. Your are ASSUMING that this is a bug in Linux. I have both an external usb keyboard with dedicated volume + and - keys, and the builtin laptop keyboard where the volume +/-keys are the combination of the Fn key plus the up/down arrows. All these used to work up to a few minutes ago. Now none of them works. I think they stopped working with the last reboot. I'm not upgrading the BIOS (nonsense requirement) and I'm not testing the mainstream kernel (no time to do that). That should not be a reason for closing the bug. I have reported it and it's as much as I can do. This might not even be in the kernel, I reported it against linux just because I have no idea what package is really responsible. It's no surprise that Ubuntu is still what it is as long as bug reports get managed this way. This issue is intermittent, happens randomly, and is a regression (i.e. has started happening at a certain update, never happened before). Ignoring it just because the reporter doesn't have the latest bios is ridiculous. This issue is intermittent, happens randomly, and is a regression (i.e. has started happening at a certain update, never happened before). Ignoring it just because the reporter doesn't have the latest bios is ridiculous. What needs to happen? That I update the bios? That's definitely not going to happen (what needs to happen is that ubuntu provide a decent way of upgrading bios without relying on booting other OSes). And there's no reason why you should need me to update the bios, when this regression has happened without any change in the bios. On the same bios, everything was working, then the regression appeared. A reboot fixed it, but I guess it may reappear at any time. If you expect bug victims -pardon- users to install bios updates in order to help you fix bugs, you should provide an easier way to install them. Do you really think this may even remotely be related to the bios?!? Or are you going to reject every bug report that is reported with a non- latest bios? I really need to know that, because if it is the latter, then I'll stop wasting my time reporting bugs and trying to make ubuntu better, as I'm obviously not going to update the bios when Ubuntu doesn't provide an easy way to do it and the link yoy point to only provides downloads for windows. It seems to me that it is completely obvious here that the issue is in the way the OS manages memory. Also, the bug should be pretty straight-forward to reproduce on ANY machine, so if you have a machine with the bios updated, you should be able to try yourself by doing the following: - have a multi-gigabyte SVG file - try to open it in eog and see if that reproduces the issue. You easily find yourself in this ridiculous and enraging situation: - you perfectly know what program is eating up all memory and hogging the system (or you have just a couple of candidates and could easily figure out by running top) - you perfectly know what to do to restore normal behavior: open a terminal, ps to find out the process id, and kill it. 3 easy steps - you can't do any of that because the system won't even respond to keystrokes and mouse clicks. Not even ctrl+alt+f1 to switch to virtual terminal works. You have no chance to run any command. The system should stop allocating the memory that process asks, or at least always keep in physical memory the essential processes that are needed to do the necessary tasks rescue the system

At the link you mention I only see downloads for Windows available. The procedure for updating the bios seems too dangerous as long as Ubuntu does not provide a seamless tool for doing it. I definitely won't do that. I'll reopen this bug report. btw, keeps happening on 14.04. It may happen randomly on any of the two usb ports I use. Once one port dies, I cannot connect the hub on that port (but I can connect a keyboard or mouse directly) so I have to switch ports. After a few suspends and resumes, it may then happen that even the second port dies, meaning the hub won't work connected to that either.
