[Dell OptiPlex 3011] Sometimes system won't be able to run suspend
  stress test

Status in HWE Next Project:

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  CID: 201302-12682 Dell OptiPlex 3011

Sometimes this system cannot be suspended for multiple times with
  sudo fwts -P s3 --s3-multiple=5 --s3-device-check --s3-device-check-delay 45
(The first suspend cycle probably would success)

Error could be found in the log file:
  S3 cycle 1 of 5
  pm-suspend returned 128 after 20 seconds.
FAILED [MEDIUM] ShortSuspend: Test 1, Unexpected: S3 slept for 20 seconds,
less
  than the expected 30 seconds.
FAILED [HIGH] PMActionPowerStateS3: Test 1, pm-action tried to put the machine
in the requested power state but failed.

When this happened, even suspend with the system menu would fail.

I do have it successfully suspend for 5 times once.

  Steps:
  1. Install 14.04, boot to desktop
  2. Try to suspend this system for multiple times with the command above
  3. Reboot and re-test it.

Bug description:
With stock 12.04.2, the card reader on this system would only
recognize SD cards. SDHC and MMC were not recognized and not
  accessible when plugged in.

After applying the latest updates and rebooting, the card reader now
recognizes and mounts MMC and SD cards, but still fails to recognize
and mount SDHC cards. Given that SDHC are the most popular cards in
the world now, this is certainly a cert blocker.

The system seems to always successfully suspend, but at some point, it
just freezes during the resume. On one attempt, the system tried to
resume but the screen remained black, on the next, the system tried to
resume, but the screen was black with random artifacts on it and a
visible mouse pointer that was not movable. In both cases, the USB
mouse and keyboard were inoperative and I had to manually power-cycle
the machine to return to a working state.

 2. Connect a external DP monitor
 3. Disconnect it, check the brightness
 4. Connect a external D-Sub monitor
 5. Disconnect it, check the brightness

Bug description:
  CID: 201206-11418 Dell Inspiron N5425

This system could be successfully suspended with radeon driver, but unable to
resume from it.
On resume, the system start waking but there is nothing on the screen (black
screen).
And the system become non-responding. Reboot is the only way to regain
usability.

WORKAROUND: By the way, this system could be suspend / resume normally
  with the AMD proprietary driver.

Therefore, either this bug or that one should be considered as a
  blocker.

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
There is a test for cert that dims the display automatically to 50%
and then raises the brightness back to 100%. This test failed to

I then tried using the Brightness and Lock too in the System Settings

8086:0162 [HP Envy 23 AIO] HDMI Out does not work

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
This system has an HDMI jack and buttons that should switch the jack
from output to input. According to the QA engineers, these keys are
not enabled on Ubuntu, so the jack should just function as an HDMI
  output as expected.

With 12.04.2, this does not work, however.

On plugging an HDMI monitor into the jack, the monitor status light
goes from orange (standby) to green (active), but then falls back to
Orange. The display never wakes and on the AIO, you don't see the
desktop flash or re-draw as it often does when adding an external
display and the desktop has to stretch.

I tried several times and could not get the HDMI output to work on
  this system.

  In Progress

Bug description:
  CID: 201103-7380 Dell Inspiron 1120

This SRU system would reboot itself automatically after powered off. Similar
to bug 1288161
Since this issue also could be reproduced on stock image, this is not a
regression.

  Step:
  1. Install 12.04, boot to desktop and shut it down.
  2. Update to 3.2.0-61, shut it down.

  Expected result:
  * System won't reboot automatically.

  Actual result:
  * System will reboot itself.

Status in “linux-lts-raring” package in Ubuntu:

Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu:

Status in “pulseaudio” source package in Precise:

Bug description:
  [SRU Justification]
Several new hardware has either headset jacks or headphone-or-mic jacks,
where the system cannot detect what has been plugged in. E g, for such a
headset jack you can either plug in a headphone or a headset, but since the
system cannot tell which one it is, you have to manually tell the system
whether you want to use the internal or external mic.
In the case of a headphone-or-mic jack, you can have the jack functioning as
either a headphone or a mic, but not as a headset.

Without this patch, PulseAudio would not detect the jack correctly,
and not making all options available to the user.

[Regression Potential] is very low: this only affects machines with
the specific name Headphone Mic Jack or Headset Mic Jack, which
started to appear for a few machines in the 3.5 kernel. People who are
running 12.04.0 or 12.04.1 will be unaffected. More machines are
coming in the 3.10 kernel, so this is also a preparation for making
  certification easier later on.

[Test case] On an affected machine, plug in something into the jack.
Then go to Sound Settings and note what options there are: e g, for
a headset jack, you should be able to select both external and
  internal mic manually.

This machine was previously blocked for certification due to bug

version: 1.20 and attempting an install via a live iso. While
attempting the install the system would intermittently lose touchpad
functionality and lock up. It will eventually stop responding to all
keyboard and mouse activity and the progress indicator will halt
implying the system has stopped. At this point you cannot switch to an

  SRU request:

  [Impact]

   * As a result of this bug, bcmwl-kernel-source will fail to build the
module against linux-generic-lts-raring in Ubuntu 12.04.

  [Test Case]

   * Enable the precise-proposed repository and install bcmwl-kernel-
  source (6.20.155.1+bdcom-0ubuntu0.0.2).

   * Install linux-generic-lts-raring

   * If the package installs without errors from DKMS with both the
linux-generic and lts-raring kernels, then the patches work correctly.

  [Regression Potential]

   * The patches that I backported from 13.10 will preserve the current
  driver behaviour on linux-generic (3.2) and linux-generic-lts-quantal
(3.5), thanks to the use of specific macros in the code which check
the kernel version. As a result, no regressions of any kind can be
  expected on these kernels.

  U-Boot 2012.07 (Sep 21 2012 - 14:54:04)

  Instead, sometimes I get:

  Freeing init memory: 176K
  pre-reboot
sd 2:0:0:0: [sda] Synchronizing SCSI cache
  Restarting system.
  Reboot failed -- System halted

To reproduce, I created an initrd that just has busybox and a simple
/init sh script that just reboots. I set a node to persistently boot
pxe, and constantly served the same kernel and initrd, for a
constantly cycling test. On affected kernels, this reproduces within
  around five reboots.

Impact: when this strikes, MAAS fails to deploy nodes. MAAS needs
three reboots to fully deploy nodes, so the MAAS failure probability
is higher than a single reboot failure. This will cause great
difficulty when using nodes at scale.

Bug description:
I've noticed that on some occasions after multiple suspend/resume
cycles that the touchpad can become unresponsive. When this occurrs,
the trackpoint still functions well, but the touchpad and its buttons
  become useless.

This seems to randomly occur. I ran a 30 cycle test on this machine
and didn't see the issue occur, but did after closing and opening the
lid 3 times, allowing it to suspend between each closure and open.

This has been seen on a couple systems only, (the other was the E320,
IIRC) and has not been observed yet on other Lenovo machines.
