[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1862528] Re: Thomson NEO14A-4SL64 touchpad does not work

I forgot to tell that I tried the following kernel parameters one by one
with no luck: noapic, pci=routeirq, pci=noacpi, acpi=off.

Title:
Thomson NEO14A-4SL64 touchpad does not work

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hi,

The Thomson NEO14A-4SL64 touchpad does not work: I tested this with a
live Ubuntu 19.10 and a live Linux Mint 19.3 with the same result. I
could not use "ubuntu-bug" because I could not connect via Ethernet
(no Ethernet on this device) nor Wi-Fi (does not work). The attached
files come from the live Linux Mint 19.3 with Linux 5.0.

These lines from dmesg seem interesting:

[ 69.353090] i2c_hid i2c-SYNA3602:00: HID over i2c has not been provided
an Int IRQ
[ 69.353269] i2c_hid: probe of i2c-SYNA3602:00 failed with error -22

I could no find useful setting in the BIOS, and Thomson does not seem
to provide BIOS update for this device.

  Regards,
  Yvan

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1841313] Re: Asus X451MA does not boot with linux > 4.15.0-55

2019-12-17 Thread Yvan Masson
I am sorry I just saw your message, it seems I have never received a
notification about it, strange.

I don't know yet if I will be able to test this kernel but I will do if
I can.

Title:
Asus X451MA does not boot with linux > 4.15.0-55

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hi,

On an Asus X451MA running Linux Mint 18.3 (Ubuntu 16.04.3), last
kernel update from 4.15.0-55 to 4.15.0-58 prevents it from booting: it
hangs at the beginning of boot.

I tested with kernel 4.15.0-59 from "xenial-proposed" and with a live
image of Ubuntu 18.04.2 and the issue remains. I could not test with a
more recent kernel on this same install because it requires libssl1.1
that is not available in the Xenial repositories. I suppose it does
not help, but a picture from live Ubuntu 18.04.2 is attached.

I will provide more information with apport very soon.

Do not hesitate to ask if I can provide other details or test other
  versions / parameters.

  Regards,
  Yvan

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1841313] Re: Asus X451MA does not boot with linux > 4.15.0-55

2019-10-08 Thread Yvan Masson
For the record, I had exactly the same issue with an Asus X550MD.
Fortunately, the new HWE kernel (5.0.0) in 18.04 works properly.

I will have this Asus X550MD until the 11 of October at least: if you
want me to do some tests, do not hesitate to ask.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1841313] Re: Asus X451MA does not boot with linux > 4.15.0-55

2019-08-25 Thread Yvan Masson
Thanks.

I tested with 4.15.0-56: install of linux-headers-4.15.0-56-generic
fails because it misses libssl1.1, but grub list this version so I could
try to boot on it and it fails the same way.

I could not test with 4.15.0-57 because your first link is wrong (and I
am confused I really couldn't find this build myself…).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1841313] Re: Asus X451MA does not boot with linux > 4.15.0-55

2019-08-25 Thread Yvan Masson
@axt.: Yes, the kernels are properly installed, I reinstalled them
without error before reporting. I understand that 4.15 is old, but I
supposed that there is the same issue on Ubuntu Xenial (you are right, I
should have test it, and I will try to do it).

@kaihengfeng: I could not find 4.15.0-56 and 4.15.0-57: could you tell
me where I can get them?

  Regards,
  Yvan

I tried with other Ubuntu live versions: 18.04.3 boots (18.04.2 does
not), 19.04 also boots.

Title:
Asus X451MA does not boot with linux > 4.15.0-55

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  New

  Regards,
  Yvan

  Regards,
  Yvan

Title:
Asus X451MA does not boot with linux > 4.15.0-55

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  New

  Regards,
  Yvan

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1406325] Re: [MacBook7, 1] suspend/resume failure

2015-02-09 Thread Yvan Masson
You are right to clarify.

My concern is that this problem appears randomly for each kernel
version, even on minor updates on 14.04 kernel (has I said at the
beginning), so I wanted to give a global vision of the problem.

The link to the SRU procedure is very interesting, but :
 - I do not have much time to do this.
 - I do not understand enough all the implications this could have.

Anyway, thanks for your time, and maybe I will follow the SRU procedure if I
have time and courage.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1406325] Re: [MacBook7, 1] suspend/resume failure

2015-02-07 Thread Yvan Masson
I just downloaded and tried the daily-live image. It seems there is no
problem with resuming from suspend, but after a resume I can not suspend
again before approximately one minute.

It was difficult to test this, the current image has bugs, at least for my
computer :
 - /home/ubuntu/.config is owned by root, so it prevents the window manager,
pulseaudio, an so on from starting
 - Xorg complained one time because it had to run in degraded mode. Finally I
do not know if it managed to run in degraded or not when I tested suspend to
RAM, but desktop was smooth.

I think the problem is definitely between the graphical card, nouveau
and Linux : I began to use openshot on this computer, and sometimes this
freeze completely the computer (I have to do a hard shutdown). If you
have any idea on how to collect and send usable logs concerning these
types of crashes, please tell.

I will try again in a few weeks the daily-live image to update tracking
of this bug.

Thanks,
Yvan

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1406325] Re: [MacBook7, 1] suspend/resume failure

2015-01-11 Thread Yvan Masson
Hi,

I could update the BIOS :
  $ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version  sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
  MB71.88Z.0039.B0E.071359
  11/07/11

The problem still remains.

I must had that some keys of the keyboard do not work (both on OSX and
Linux so it is hardware) : left shift, left Control and left Alt. I do
not think this is related, but maybe.

Regards,
Yvan

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1406325] Re: [MacBook7, 1] suspend/resume failure

2015-01-11 Thread Yvan Masson
Thanks for the fast answer.

Pleas apologize, but I do not understand where I should get the upstream
kernel : from the Linus git repository
(http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git) or from
the Ubuntu kernel PPA (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/) ?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1406325] Re: [MacBook7, 1] suspend/resume failure

2015-01-11 Thread Yvan Masson
So I tried using kernels from the PPA http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/, with the lasts subversions of each kernel version. Here
are the things I noticed compared to the current 3.13.0-43 kernel:

linux-image-3.14.28-031428-generic, version 3.14.28-031428.201501081937 :
 - on first boot hanged on splash screen (I did a hard sutdown), second boot
was working
 - resume from suspend is WORKING, but the two first times it increased the
sound volume

linux-image-3.15.10-031510-generic, version 3.15.10-031510.201408132333
 - from this kernel to the last I tried, the graphics on splah screen are no
more corrupted (usually the top half of the screen is corrupted)
 - from this kernel to the last I tried, the Apple logo flashes one time when
suspending to RAM
 - resume from suspend is WORKING

linux-image-3.16.7-031607-generic, version 3.16.7-031607.201410301735
 - resume from suspend is NOT WORKING (the screen gets on briefly before
shutting down again but the whole computer does not hang because I can still
close the lid to suspend to RAM again)

linux-image-3.17.8-031708-generic, 3.17.8-031708.201501081837
 - first boot failed with a kernel panic, the next one was working. Here are
messages I supposed to be interesting on this kernel panic:
  ..
  general protection fault: [#2] SMP
  ..
Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed!
 - resume from suspend is NOT WORKING (again, the screen gets on briefly before
shutting down again but the whole computer does not hang because I can still
close the lid to suspend to RAM again)

linux-image-3.18.2-031802-generic, 3.18.2-031802.201501082011
 - resume from suspend is WORKING

linux-image-3.19.0-031900rc3-generic, 3.19.0-031900rc3.201501060135
 - resume from suspend is WORKING

Thanks again for your time and work,
Yvan

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1406325] Re: [MacBook7, 1] suspend/resume failure

2015-01-06 Thread Yvan Masson
Thanks very much for this complete and interesting answer.

I can't easily test this because I first need to upgrade OS X
(fortunately it is still on disk) : the EFI update needs a recent
version… I will update the bug report when done.

Title:
  [MacBook7,1] suspend/resume failure

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hi,

Using Xubuntu 14.04, the MacBook7,1 can't resume after a suspend to RAM since
laste kernel update (linux-image-3.13.0-39-generic). The screen does light a
fraction of second, but remains off after that. It happened sometimes with
kernel linux-image-3.13.0-40-generic, but with last kernel it happens on each
resume.
I am using the nouveau free driver.

Thanks very much for your time and work,
  Yvan

Thanks very much for your time and work,
  Yvan
