I've read that some other people who have also an Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller, are suffering the same problem. I updated the BIOS to F.07 and it doesn't change anything. In other words, I've commented out these two options in /etc/default/grub : # GRUB_GFXMODE=800x600 # GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=text and after sudo update-grub the boot process shows the same issue as described in the Bug description.
