[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1973167] Re: linux-image-4.15.0-177-generic freezes on the welcome screen
It affects to: Kubuntu 18.04, Dell Latitude 7490. I could start by blacklisting the intel-lpss-pci module (in this case the mouse doesn't work) and loading it again after boot (the mouse works again fine). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1973167 Title: linux-image-4.15.0-177-generic freezes on the welcome screen Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux source package in Bionic: Confirmed Bug description: After updating to linux-image-4.15.0-177-generic, my machine completely freezes on the Ubuntu Welcome screen, i.e. right after switching to GUI mode. The mouse pointer is frozen, the keyboard does not even respond to CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK, pressing CTRL+ALT+F2 shows no reaction. I cannot work with my machine at this point and have to hard reset it. Selecting advanced boot options in grub and selecting the previous linux kernel 4.15.0-176 makes it work again. So this bad bug was introduced with the 4.15.0-177 kernel release. I tried removing the nvidia-driver-510 package, presumably making Ubuntu use the "nouveau" driver, and with that, I could use the welcome screen and log in, but the machine still froze shortly afterwards. So maybe this is some sort of interference with my GeForce 1080 graphics card, but it is not specific to the driver used. I can confirm that I see the same behaviour in my Dell lattitude 7200 2-in-1. Actually, the touchscreen works with my fingers for as long as I can try, but as soon as I put the stylus on it it completely stops working and only a reboot makes it work again (until I touch it with the stylus). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 607560] Re: jbd2 writing block every 5 - 10 seconds, preventing disk spin-down and making noise
I have a similar problem on a 4.15.0-20-generic kernel. This makes an annoying click/tick noise and prevents the disk from spinning down to conserve power. jbd2 appears in logs as several entries like... Jul 19 21:35:45 edge kernel: [ 3312.913759] jbd2/sda5-8(350): WRITE block 42280704 on sda5 ... and can be observed using iotop. Since the noise only occurs in Ubuntu and not in Windows 7 it is probably a software problem. The excessive writes may reduce the disk's lifespan. Hi, for me all fn combs work except keyboard backlight, I'm on an Asus ROG. For me there are both 'kbd_backlight' and 'kbd_backlight_1' in sys/class/leds/asus::<...>. I can also manually adjust 'sys/class/leds/asus::kbd_backlight_1/brightness' which effectively toggles the light. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1531653] Re: Macbook Pro Retina 11, 1 SD Card Reader Doesn't Work
I have a MacBook Pro 13" from 2013, running Debian8 with the backported kernel (4.2). The SD-card reader works randomly: sometimes it is perfectly recognized at boot and works as expected without a glitch as long as you don't suspend/restart the computer. But most of the time (>50% of the boot) the card reader is not recognized. Then inserting a card, nothing in dmesg, not seen in the lsusb, ... and there is a "timeout" message about xhci-hcd (USB3 driver). Are there option to load xhci with longer timeout ? Cheers, Jerome -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1531653 Title: Macbook Pro Retina 11,1 SD Card Reader Doesn't Work Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in linux package in Debian: New Status in Fedora: Unknown Bug description: I have a Macbook Pro (MBP) Retina 11,1 with an SD card reader that will not work. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1270676] Re: SD Card Reader broken on UX302LG
Unfortunately, this patch doesn't work correctly with Ubuntu 15.04 :( Reading and creating files on SD card are OK but copying a large file to the SD should freeze my ASUS UX302LG... (I'd tried with Nautilus and terminal 'cp' command). For example : if I try to copy a little file (around 10Ko) from the desktop to the SD : OK, but for a file around 2Mo, the PC will freeze. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1270676 Title: SD Card Reader broken on UX302LG Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: SD card reader (controller Alcor Micro AU6601) is dysfunctional in UX302LG laptop. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1449401] Re: After 14.10 updates to kernel 3.16.0-36, system is not booting, resulting in black screen due to NULL pointer in intel_ring_init_seqno
Also affects 14.04.2 LTS here. Installed mainline kernel v4.1-rc1-vivid and it boots fine (although I cannot say if the info is relevant since I'm running trusty). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1449401 Title: After 14.10 updates to kernel 3.16.0-36, system is not booting, resulting in black screen due to NULL pointer in intel_ring_init_seqno Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This happens everytime I boot after updating kernel from 3.16.0-34 to 3.16.0-36.
