I found a solution for this, at least for my case! I traced the CPU
pinning to ACPI GPE11 (corresponding to IRQ9 in my Mac Pro 1,1) being
hit constantly.
This can be killed permanently by passing "acpi_mask_gpe=0x11" to the
kernel at boot.
I still believe this was first triggered for 20.04 first

I also tried fedora 34 (kernel 5.11) on this notebook with the same

suspend only works once on ThinkPad X1
I've just tested on Eoan with the proposed branch.
It didn't resolve my issue. I'll give it some time today to see if the new
kernel
gets released.

The hang/unresponsive system is an intel gpu problem:

It seems it fixed some things. There are even more problems now.
- Changing sound cards and output in settings is making my system
unresponsive for multiple seconds.
With these errors in my dmesg:

The bug is fixed. I already had proposed updates enabled.
It works with this kernel:

I do have however other problems.
The microphone isn't working and it's not detected as a 4.0 sound system.
