I have updated BIOS to P15 and that didn't make any difference. Have you tried with a 3.12 or newer kernel? I had a USB 3 caddy which was consistent in disconnecting but seems to have been fixed by this new kernel. I also blacklist the rts5139 (writing on phone may have module name wrong) module which is for the card reader. Unforrunately lsmod | grep rts returns nothing, my card reader must be some other brand. And since the firmware update of the USB 3.0 controller, usb 2.0 devices don't disconnect anymore. I didn't experience this on windows. Upgraded firmware didn't fix the issue. I've got kernel 3.9.4-030904-generic #201305241545 SMP Fri May 24 19:46:00 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux If i plug in anything to USB 2.0 it works fine, but with anything plugged into USB 3.0 ports, it will hang after a few seconds.
