[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1611845] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at ffffc9001aecb2c
Karl-Philipp Richter, no need to file a new report about this issue. Despite this, 4.8.0-26-generic is based off of upstream kernel version 4.8.0 as per http://people.canonical.com/~kernel/info/kernel-version- map.html . Hence, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 4.8.0 to 4.8.6 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this good commit has been identified, it may be reviewed for backporting. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of bisecting. It is most helpful that after the fix commit (not kernel version) has been identified, you then mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your help. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1611845 Title: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at c9001aecb2c Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Writes on XFS mount fail due to `BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at c9001aecb2c` (logged in `dmesg`). Yes, but the issue still occurs in 16.10 with the latest non-mainline kernel 4.8.0-26-generic, but not with the latest mainline kernel 4.8.6. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1611845] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at ffffc9001aecb2c
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.8 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance.
