I have booted into a liveDVD version of Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander
and get access to the Lexar 32GB encrypted drive after a 12 second wait.
So the problem is not resolved in this kernel version.

Joseph,
I cannot upgrade my production platform to a development release.
However, I can download the latest beta liveCD of 13.10 and boot into that
and conduct the test.
Would that be ok?
I am replying directly to your email because Launchpad is down.
Thanks.

Given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during any
development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all. Therefore,
we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request further
testing. This is such a request.

As previously requested in comment #35, could you possibly supply a
liveDVD iso image for my download that contains kernel 3.11.0-031100rc4?
I would live boot my production machine and test without risk.

peterzay, unfortunately I would not be supplying a live environment that
contains this kernel. However, you are welcome to do this via

The instructions for liveCD customization appear to vary somewhat from
Ubuntu 9.04, 9.10, 10.04 with no clear instructions for the 13.04 or
13.10 releases.
Given the complexity of the liveCD customization documentation, I do not
trust these instructions for 13.04 or 13.10.

After review of the mainline kernel test procedure, I assess the risk to
my production machine as being too high.
My near identical test machine (no nVidia card) does not exhibit the
problem. It takes about 2 secs to display the password screen for the
encrypted USB key.
Note that my production

If it is of interest to you, I can test an old liveCD Ubuntu version of
your choice. Let me know.
Remember, the problem is intermittent. It may be hard to test
conclusively.

The same test on Ubuntu 10.04.4 took 14 secs to display the password
screen. So the problem already existed back then.
The most striking feature about this test was the inability of this
version of Ubuntu to properly handle the graphics function at a modern
(high) screen resolution.

This post is coming from a liveDVD session.
I have booted 4x and inserted the encrypted USB drive each time just
after boot.
The times to password screen are 3, 10, 15, 3 secs for each of the 4
boots respectively.
This post is for liveDVD boot number 4.

peterzay, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest
development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains,
could you please run the following command in the development release
from a Terminal
