It turns out removing the linux-image-3.2.0-64-generic package (this
also requires to remove linux-image-generic) afterwards gave an error
message and my /vmlinuz file was gone.
Marking the linux-image-3.2.0-63-generic for reinstall in synaptic and
reinstalling it recreated the files and terminate
I had the same problem just now on a 12.04 while upgrading the kernel:
The file /lib/modules/3.2.0-64-generic/modules.ccwmap grows until the
disk is full.
I ran the upgrade from upgrademanager.
Killing depmod makes it run again, killing it again makes the upgrade
finish, I doubt though that the
