[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1300144] Re: Requested shutdown results in Reboot
Christopher Barrington-Leigh, as per http://download.lenovo.com/express/ddfm.html an update to your BIOS is available (2.58). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-2.58 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete ** Summary changed: - Requested shutdown results in Reboot + [Lenovo ThinkPad X230 Tablet] Requested shutdown results in Reboot -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1300144 Title: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230 Tablet] Requested shutdown results in Reboot Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: On Lenovo X230 Tablet, and the latest 14.04, when I pick Shutdown from my desktop menu, the machine shuts down and then almost immediately boots up again, by itself. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1300144] Re: Requested shutdown results in Reboot
I tried the 3.14 kernel. Under either kernel, the problem does not occur every time I shut down, unfortunately. I am not sure what the variable is. In any case, it just did the same thing (restarted when I asked for a shutdown) under the upstream kernel. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1300144 Title: Requested shutdown results in Reboot Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: On Lenovo X230 Tablet, and the latest 14.04, when I pick Shutdown from my desktop menu, the machine shuts down and then almost immediately boots up again, by itself. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1300144] Re: Requested shutdown results in Reboot
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.14 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance. Hello. I am a naive user. There seems to be a choice of files to install. I want the amd64 ones, but do I want lowlatency or generic? If I isntall them, will it just look like another option in grub?
