Work everything (except now power button) - eeepc-wmi: newer, no kernel parameter. Very little works. does not work wifi hotkey (Fn+F2), and some others. I was not able to use wlan with -wmi module. I was suggested to do the bisecting, but I do not have time at the moment Also the eeepc-laptop module did not change much from 3.12 to 3.13 There is also forum topic about this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2219864 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: linux-image-3.13.0-32-generic 3.13.0-32.57 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-32.57-generic 3.13.11.4 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-32-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.3 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: gasper 2382 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity CurrentDmesg: [ 69.002927] perf samples too long (2513 2500), lowering kernel.perf_event_max_sample_rate to 5 [ 163.177532] perf samples too long (5047 5000), lowering kernel.perf_event_max_sample_rate to 25000 Date: Wed Aug 13 09:47:13 2014 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=4a418b64-24f3-4f6a-861d-63e4839897ea InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-08-08 (5 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Trusty Tahr - Release i386 (20140722.2) Lsusb: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 13d3:5108 IMC Networks Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub MachineType: ASUSTeK Computer INC. 1101HA ProcFB: 0 psbdrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-32-generic root=UUID=c687e005-4892-4539-a302-a02f7069067d ro quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_osi=Linux mem=1920mb vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.13.0-32-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.13.0-32-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.127.5 RfKill: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no SourcePackage: linux UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 09/24/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 0317 dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.board.name: 1101HA dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. dmi.board.version: x.xx dmi.chassis.asset.tag: 0x dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: ASUSTek Computer INC. dmi.chassis.version: x.x dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr0317:bd09/24/2009:svnASUSTeKComputerINC.:pn1101HA:pvrx.x:rvnASUSTeKComputerINC.:rn1101HA:rvrx.xx:cvnASUSTekComputerINC.:ct10:cvrx.x: dmi.product.name: 1101HA dmi.product.version: x.x dmi.sys.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1356229] Re: Asus EeePC 1101HA PowerButton not working
Gašper Sedej, thank you for updating your BIOS. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.17-rc1 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags removed: bios-outdated-0323 ** Tags added: latest-bios-0323 ** Tags added: regression-release ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Low = Medium ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1356229 Title: Asus EeePC 1101HA PowerButton not working Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The power button stopped working with Ubuntu 14.04. I was suggested to do the bisecting, but I do not have time at the moment Also the eeepc-laptop module did not change much from 3.12 to 3.13 There is also forum topic about this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2219864 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: linux-image-3.13.0-32-generic 3.13.0-32.57 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-32.57-generic 3.13.11.4 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-32-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.3 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: gasper 2382 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity CurrentDmesg: [ 69.002927] perf samples too long (2513 2500), lowering kernel.perf_event_max_sample_rate to 5 [ 163.177532] perf samples too long (5047 5000), lowering kernel.perf_event_max_sample_rate to 25000 Date: Wed Aug 13 09:47:13 2014 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=4a418b64-24f3-4f6a-861d-63e4839897ea InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-08-08 (5 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Trusty Tahr - Release i386 (20140722.2) Lsusb: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 13d3:5108 IMC Networks Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub MachineType: ASUSTeK Computer INC. 1101HA ProcFB: 0 psbdrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-32-generic root=UUID=c687e005-4892-4539-a302-a02f7069067d ro quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_osi=Linux mem=1920mb vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.13.0-32-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.13.0-32-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.127.5 RfKill: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no SourcePackage: linux UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 09/24/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 0317 dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.board.name: 1101HA dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. dmi.board.version: x.xx dmi.chassis.asset.tag: 0x dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: ASUSTek Computer INC. dmi.chassis.version: x.x dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr0317:bd09/24/2009:svnASUSTeKComputerINC.:pn1101HA:pvrx.x:rvnASUSTeKComputerINC.:rn1101HA:rvrx.xx:cvnASUSTekComputerINC.:ct10:cvrx.x: dmi.product.name: 1101HA dmi.product.version: x.x dmi.sys.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1356229] Re: Asus EeePC 1101HA PowerButton not working
Looking at dmesg it seems that eeepc-wmi is complaining and not loading because acpi_osi=Linux is used. The older module eeepc-laptop is not loaded. Have you tried: 1. either remove the acpi_osi=Linux from the command line 2. manually sudo modprobe eeepc-laptop otherwise? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1356229 Title: Asus EeePC 1101HA PowerButton not working Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The power button stopped working with Ubuntu 14.04. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1356229] Re: Asus EeePC 1101HA PowerButton not working
Gašper Sedej, thank you for reporting this and making Ubuntu better. As per http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=enm=Eee+PC+1101HAp=30s=12 an update to your BIOS is available (0323). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-0323 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1356229 Title: Asus EeePC 1101HA PowerButton not working Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The power button stopped working with Ubuntu 14.04.
