[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1386175] Re: Desktop freezes on login and while booting the ISO image

2014-10-28 Thread Harjeet Singh
I tried mainline kernel v3.18-rc2 as suggested. It would not boot
properly and took me to the intramfs screen (see attachment). Also while
starting with that kernel the screen was stretched horizontally.

I have also updated BIOS to A12, the problem still persists with that
BIOS version.

Status for various kernel version sis as follows :

  3.16.0-17 (Utopic-Beta2) - **WORKS**
  3.16.0-23 - Does not Work
  3.17.1 - Does not Work
3.18.0-rc2 - Does not boot properly

2014-10-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Harjeet Singh, anything change testing 3.18-rc1?

As well, did you test v3.18-rc2-vivid, v3.18-rc2-utopic, or both?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1386175] Re: Desktop freezes on login and while booting the ISO image

2014-10-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Harjeet Singh, the next step is to fully commit bisect the kernel in
order to identify the offending commit. Could you please do this
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1386175] Re: Desktop freezes on login and while booting the ISO image

2014-10-27 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.18 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.
