The bug doesn't seem to appear anymore with the latest 3.18 kernel. Only doesn't seem. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1390780] Re: [Samsung NP-N220-JA01FR] Intermittently does not resume from suspend
Christophe, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 3.2 to 3.18 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this commit has been identified, then it may be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into your release. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Thank you for your understanding. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1390780] Re: [Samsung NP-N220-JA01FR] Intermittently does not resume from suspend
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.18 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1390780] Re: [Samsung NP-N220-JA01FR] Intermittently does not resume from suspend
I tried hard to update my bios, but since I totally removed windows 7 from the hard drive, I haven't found any way to get the .exe bios updater to work (wine didn't work, booting from a 'live' windows cd didn't work either... saying that I had no battery or that it's not charged enough). I would prefer to try anything else than update my bios which would make me install windows again (and I don't know how I could...). What could I do else ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1390780 Title: [Samsung NP-N220-JA01FR] Intermittently does not resume from suspend Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Sometimes (randomly, but more often after a long while of being suspended), my laptop cannot wake up from the suspended to ram state. It is a samsung n220 netbook, with ubuntu 12.04 precise and 3.2 kernel. Following various hints on the launchpad pages, I tried to put the intel_idle.max_state=0 or 3 to the kernel parameter. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1390780] Re: [Samsung NP-N220-JA01FR] Intermittently does not resume from suspend
Christophe, as per http://www.samsung.com/fr/support/model/NP-N220-JA01FR an update to your BIOS is available (08JI). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your understanding. ** Summary changed: - Samsung n220 randomly does not wake up from suspended to ram state + [Samsung NP-N220-JA01FR] Intermittently does not resume from suspend ** Tags added: bios-outdated-08ji -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1390780 Title: [Samsung NP-N220-JA01FR] Intermittently does not resume from suspend Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Sometimes (randomly, but more often after a long while of being suspended), my laptop cannot wake up from the suspended to ram state.
