It will stop responding to any movments, the only way to move the cursor is click on the touchpad and drag (just like selecting multiple files) I'm not sure what event could trigger this issue, but I do see this twice on this system (and on 201404-14998, another Vostro 3546) One is right after the whole testing process, another is after being suspended for two days. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1439492] Re: [Dell Vostro 3546] Sometimes the clickpad will be malfunctioning on this system
Po-Hsu Lin / Anthony Wong, as per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product- support/product/vostro-3546-laptop/drivers an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A05). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-a05 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1439492 Title: [Dell Vostro 3546] Sometimes the clickpad will be malfunctioning on this system Status in HWE Next Project: New Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: CID: 201404-14997 Dell Vostro 3546 Sometimes the clickpad on this system does not work as expected.
