Christopher M. Penalver, I think I've unintentionally confused the trouble shooting efforts for this. I've tested the drive on 2 different machines with 3 different Ubuntu versions. The original bug was reported on a machine running Ubuntu 14.04.2; I'll attempt to gather the requested information
