[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1496014] Re: kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt drm_kms_helper
I've updated my system yesterday via software updater to the newest kernel version (3.13.0-66). Seems that this new version is running w/o problems: uptime 09:46:06 up 1 day, 15:22, 3 users, load average: 4,95, 3,41, 1,79 uname -r 3.13.0-66-generic Seems to be stable again. From my point of view the problem is solved. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1496014] Re: kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt drm_kms_helper
Have taken a look to the HowTo for the MainlineBuilds. The preparation part requires to uninstall VirtualBox and other modules. My problem is that this is my "production" machine, and VirtualBox is the main reason that this machine exists. First I have to build up an alternative server, this may take a while. Thank you for your understanding. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1496014] Re: kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt drm_kms_helper
So, for my Motherboard Asus P8z77-V Deluxe, I have updated the bios to the latest available (2104 08/13/2013). Started machine with the latest kernel, but after about two hours it stopped again. It did not switch back to text console mode, it was a frozen GUI. Switched back to previous kernel, with that everything is running ok. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1496014] Re: kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt drm_kms_helper
Helmut Heidel, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags removed: bios-outdated-2104 ** Tags added: latest-bios-2104 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1496014 Title: kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt drm_kms_helper Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: -- cut here --- kernel BUG at /build/linux-McokMo/linux-3.13.0/net/core/skbuff.c:98! [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1496014] Re: kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt drm_kms_helper
HelmutHeidel, as per https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z77V_DELUXE/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2104). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-2104 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1496014 Title: kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt drm_kms_helper Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: -- cut here --- kernel BUG at /build/linux-McokMo/linux-3.13.0/net/core/skbuff.c:98!
