While having a second look at this I can conclude that the messages from
device-mapper are due to a device that is not a multipath target, in which case
it should be blacklisted in the multipath config file.
This will make multipath to not map them, and using this we were able to no
longer see t

I've tested this issue on Vivid with upstream kernel 4.5.0-rc5-next-20160226
and dmesg still shows device-mapper messages.
I also checked Wily with kernel 4.2.0-30-generic and errors are there too.
