[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1525270] Re: Wi-Di Realtek 8192E disconnects after a while and fails to reconnect

2015-12-16 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Gilbert Dion, as per
http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/model/NP-R580-JS03CA an update to your
computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (11JB). If you update to
this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it
change anything?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) If the issue is still reproducible, please mark this report Status
Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sorry, I don't know how to add a tag. This tag would be "kernel-bug-

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1525270] Re: Wi-Di Realtek 8192E disconnects after a while and fails to reconnect

2015-12-14 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.4 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Title:
Wi-Di Realtek 8192E disconnects after a while and fails to reconnect

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
A few minutes after booting my Samsung R580 laptop, the Wi-Fi
disconnects and it fails to reconnect until I restart the machine.
This happens with all the 64 bit versions of Ubuntu I tried, from
14.04 to 15.10. With the 32 bit versions, everything runs perfectly.
No loss of connection at all, even after 48 hours in a row.

Here is the output of iwconfig after loss of connexion:

  eth7 no wireless extensions.

  lono wireless extensions.
