Switched to Mate 16.04 since the clicking noise is present in Lubuntu after
installing pulseaudio for Skype to run.
The Noise is only in the left speaker.
Mute fixes it but not acceptable as a fix.
Changing the balance to the right speaker DOES NOT FIX THIS (strange).

I am unable to disable the power save to see if this is a problem,
however, supposedly, this powersave will not be activated when the
laptop is plugged in. I loaded the system with this plugged in and ran
audacity (which causes clicking). This did no solve the problem. So I
think it could be a p
I think I know more about the cause of the problem. It is the speaker and
conflict with the graphics.
I did some more research on this issue and even though I ignored the askubuntu
entries on speaker noise, I read it more carefully. It is actually speaker
noise that is causing the problem. It
thunderbird does make noise. It might just be when I am online that it makes
noise. This might also help.
There are some skylake firmware. I wonder if this is simply included in the
latest kernels

Thunderbird stopped making the noise and may have been just the greeter screen.
I think gtk3 is ok because firefox works ok.
Wine still makes the noise if i launch any application under wine.

If you are still using the same install that was done under UEFI

I'd did a purge of 4.4.4 and it still gave a minimal grub after a few boots
and a boot with usb.

I tried the bios 1.2 on it and it still makes the noise on a usb live boot.
Please be reminded I am a monk living in a monastery on a mountain. They
turn on a diesel generator at night which has been repaired only a few

For some reason electricity matters with bios update. It worked

This is a different 131t it is the c1yf model subset of tye 131t which
has 2 gb of ram and 32gb hard drive. The ubuntu is installed on the SD
(not live version).
Live ubuntu usb disks does this too.
