[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1567417] Re: WARN_ON(!wm_changed) skl_update_other_pipe_wm+0x16c/0x180 [i915_bpo]

2017-05-17 Thread Shay Perlstein
I have the same problem using precision 5510 + Dell dock, used to have
perfectly working 3 monitors setup, which no longer works after the latest
update (4.4.0-77-generic).
I can no longer use 3 screen setup, 2 monitors setup is barely working and I
often need to reset it after boot, reordering the screen is also impossible.
I tried that with Nvidia latest drivers, with/without intel profile and the
open source driver, got the same results.

here is the log message:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1567417] Re: WARN_ON(!wm_changed) skl_update_other_pipe_wm+0x16c/0x180 [i915_bpo]

2017-02-15 Thread Tharrrk
Same here on Dell E7470 (SKU:06DC),i5-6300U (Skylake) & 1366x768 model
(non-standards I think not being related just to mention: UEFI+grub,
SecureBoot, DualBoot, LL kernel, LVM & LUKS FDE & custom keyscript)

Display quirks from time to time and I see lines below in dmesg.

Not related to screen locking, happens less then 4 seconds after clean boot and
then randomly.
Nothing nvidia related installed on system.
Seen complaints about missing firmware while updating initramfs...
W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/kbl_dmc_ver1.bin for module
i915_bpo
Don't know whether it could be related?
CPU/GPU is skl not kbl however - so probably not.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1567417] Re: WARN_ON(!wm_changed) skl_update_other_pipe_wm+0x16c/0x180 [i915_bpo]

2016-12-05 Thread Deon Rodden
Ok so I traced this to occuring after you install the nvidia driver.
Using the intel card or the nouveau drivers the kernel log was clean. It
was only after installing nvidia drivers (I tried various versions, from
367 up to 375) that I saw that in the kernel logs.

Either way, for me it does not seem to be actually affecting anything.
My laptop (Precision 5510) is able to drive the external 4k monitor as
well as its normal 4k screen. It's also able to push sound to the
external 4k monitor (has built in speakers). So sound is working and so
is the resolution. This error, while definitely concerning (and it
definitely went away when I upgraded to the 4.8.x kernel), doesn't seem
to actually affect me negatively.

Additionally, I downgraded back to the original Ubuntu 14.04 based image
Dell officially released the Precision 5510 with, to see if they'd
custom patched the older kernel or anything, but they hadn't. Same error
shows up in the kernel logs on the 14.04 distribution Dell included with
the laptop. So they didn't see a need to fix it there either.

2016-09-02 Thread Rocko
I tried 4.8-rc4 and I didn't see the skl_update_other_pipe_wm warning
any more. Unfortunately there are regular video glitches and
suspend/resume is broken, so the 4.8 kernel isn't usable yet.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1567417] Re: WARN_ON(!wm_changed) skl_update_other_pipe_wm+0x16c/0x180 [i915_bpo]

2016-06-28 Thread Joel Stanley
I see this on my Lenovo X1 Carbon (4th gen), a skylake machine.

I believe this upstream bug is related:

 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89055

Comment #62 says:

The series that fixes this bug has now been merged to our drm-intel-
nightly branch. It should land upstream in kernel 4.8.

2016-04-18 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.6 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.
