The following settings helped:
xHCI handoff - Disabled (was Enabled)
EHCI handoff - Disabled
IOMMU controller - Enabled (was Disabled)
Installation of Ubuntu Studio 16.04 successfully finished (USB devices
were recognized
I've been reading about it because I had the same problem when trying to load
64 bit linux mint OS from an USB stick and it seems that it happens with
Gigabyte motherboards... (I have Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3)

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.6 kernel[0].
