[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1616695] Re: Bluetooth signal is unusably poor

2017-05-28 Thread dino.korah
Such a pain this one! not an Ubuntu specific issue as so many other people have
already confirmed!
I could reproduce it on a debian (jessie).

Same here with Ubuntu 17.04 and a pair of Aftershokz Trekz Titanium (or

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1616695] Re: Bluetooth signal is unusably poor

2017-03-22 Thread JoaoH
Well I found a work around for Manjaro/Arch linux... Hope this helps you
guys on Ubuntu.

I had rebooted into my original install ISO USB drive to check something
unrelated and decided to try the BT Headphones on the live ISO, and it
all works perfectly! I can walk between rooms and the A2DP works
perfectly!

So what I did was downgrade my Bluez & Bluez-libs from 5.44 to 5.41-2
and all is good in the bluetooth world!

Note: I believe Ubuntu and Arch use different version numbers...

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1616695] Re: Bluetooth signal is unusably poor

2017-03-16 Thread JoaoH
It would seem to me that with the recent boom in BT devices, that the
"importance" would be a little higher than "medium". I have a $250.00
set of Headphones that is basically useless and have to tether with an
audio cable. I am to the point that I may have to go back top Windows
and run the Linux apps in VM, it's that big of a deal breaker.

I am just saying...

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1616695] Re: Bluetooth signal is unusably poor

2017-03-15 Thread JoaoH
I am not on a Mac or Ubuntu... but I have the same issue on Arch Linux,
on a Dell XPS14 with Qualcomm Atheros Communications AR3012 Bluetooth
4.0

Been chasing this issue for weeks...sure would like to know what the fix
is when someone finds it.

Title:
  Bluetooth signal is unusably poor

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Brand new Macbook Pro 12,1. Brand new Ubuntu 16.04 install (from
  scratch).

In MacOS the machine can connect to my bluetooth speaker from across
the room and play A2DP no trouble at all. In Ubuntu 16.04 I have to
literally hold up the macbook 1 inch away from the speaker to get it
to connect and play, and even then it's a bit choppy. Turning off
Wifi seems to help a bit, which leads me to think this is some kind of
  transmit power issue.
