I have the same problem with a Dell XPS. On 16.04 was ok, and initially
on 17.04 after a upgrade also was right (sometimes failed after
suspend). But after an update, 3 and 4-finger gestures stopped working
definitely.

I have just upgraded from 16.10 to 17.04 and 3- and 4-finger taps
stopped working. Two finger tap and scrolling works as previously. I’m
on ASUS Zenbook.
