Public bug reported:

I installed fresh from Mint 18.3 ISO today on my latitude E6410. After the no
network install I set up a second monitor. Then I applied a bunch of level 1
and 2 updates. There were four level 3 updates: systemd 229-4ubuntu21.1,
linix-firmware 1.157.16; linux-libc-dev 4.4.0-116.140, and linuxkernel
4.13.0-36.40-16.04.1.
I installed them separately and rebooted after each one. After the kernel
update the system booted up and briefly showed the sqaure mint logo then both
screens went dark.

I ran ubuntu-bug linux it reports the ** Problem in linux-
image-4.13.0-36-generic
