I've same problem with nvidia 960 in combo with intel integrated card. Even when I disable integrated card in BIOS, it doesn't help, but contrary making it default helps, but of course then system is using integrated card as main card.
I tried setting NOMODESET and WaylandEnable=false, but those didn't help. Removing nvidia drivers and using noveau works. Will also try replacing gdm with lightdm as suggested in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics- drivers-384/+bug/1705369 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1769808 Title: System installed nvidia driver turned to black screen after upgrading Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: My Ubuntu is the version of 18.04, after system upgrading (I remembered with Kernel being upgraded), the screen will turn black before login window shows up. PS: Currently I am only able to login to the system in the terminal instead of GUI. I don't know how to get related logs. If anyone needs logs for analysis, please tell me how I can collect the logs.
