[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1811860] Re: Display ports on Lenovo docking station stopped working after upgrade of linux-firmware 1.173.2 -> 1.173.3
Can you provide the output of lsmod and dmesg with the laptop attached to the dock and 1.173.3 installed? I still can't see how any of the updates between those versions are to files which would be used by your laptop. For reference, here is is the list of files added or updated between 1.173.2 and 1.173.3. The amdgpu files won't be used at all by the bionic 4.15 kernel, but you have Intel graphics hardware anyway. You do have an Intel wireless card, but not one which uses the wireless firmware which was updated. The others are not for devices which would be found in a laptop. amdgpu/vegam_ce.bin amdgpu/vegam_me.bin amdgpu/vegam_mec.bin amdgpu/vegam_mec2.bin amdgpu/vegam_pfp.bin amdgpu/vegam_rlc.bin amdgpu/vegam_sdma.bin amdgpu/vegam_sdma1.bin amdgpu/vegam_smc.bin amdgpu/vegam_uvd.bin amdgpu/vegam_vce.bin iwlwifi-9000-pu-b0-jf-b0-34.ucode iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-34.ucode mellanox/mlxsw_spectrum-13.1620.192.mfa2 qed/qed_init_values_zipped-8.37.2.0.bin -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1811860 Title: Display ports on Lenovo docking station stopped working after upgrade of linux-firmware 1.173.2 -> 1.173.3 Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Lenovo Carbon X1 running on Lenovo Thinkpad Ultra Dock I have only been able to attach a single monitor to the docking station before the upgrade of linux-firmware. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1811860] Re: Display ports on Lenovo docking station stopped working after upgrade of linux-firmware 1.173.2 -> 1.173.3
I'm not hit by the kernel bug - I haven't tried installing kernel 4.15.0.44 yet. But some of my colleagues has - and opened bug [bug 1813663|https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1813663] in return. We have a lot of rather new Lenovo laptops here... My running config is still: linux-image-generic 4.15.0.43.45 linux-firmware1.173.2 If I upgrade linux-firmware from 1.173.2 to 1.173.3, my external monitor stops working. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1811860] Re: Display ports on Lenovo docking station stopped working after upgrade of linux-firmware 1.173.2 -> 1.173.3
Can you check bug 1813663 to confirm that this isn't the kernel issue reported there? I know you said that going back a version of linux- firmware and not the kernel fixes the issue for you, but that problem broke docking stations badly and is in about the same time frame, so I want to double check. Because as far as I've been able to tell so far the updates in linux-firmware 1.173.3 should not have affected your laptop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1811860 Title: Display ports on Lenovo docking station stopped working after upgrade of linux-firmware 1.173.2 -> 1.173.3 Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Lenovo Carbon X1 running on Lenovo Thinkpad Ultra Dock I have only been able to attach a single monitor to the docking station before the upgrade of linux-firmware.
