Title:
Kubuntu 18.04 does not display through mini-DP port on lenovo Helix 2

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:

be seen by xrandr.
But then it gives up after some time (see attachment of System Settings

2019-02-27 Thread udippel
For completeness, here the Xorg-log. It looks pretty similar to the log
of that FreeDesktop bug 106017; that is trying for ages to get the
display up. There it leads to heavy flicker, and here it leads to a
fail.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1817944] Re: Kubuntu 18.04 does not display through mini-DP port on lenovo Helix 2

2019-02-27 Thread udippel
Nope, again.
After some 5 or 10 minutes of working, the screen began to look like the old
TV-sets not being synchronized (diagonal coloured bars), and then it went away
completely.

Before writing this message here, I let it run for half an hour or so, and it
shows the display in xrandr, and then it doesn't show it. "You see it, and then
you don't".
This here is like when xrandr shwos the display:

Here I was lucky, and found xrandr between 'connected' and
'disconnected'. It looks crazy that it shows 'disconnected' and at the
same time givestiming information, doesn't it?:

and a different appearance, so it is filed separately.)

Using the levovo Helix 2 attached to its Pro keyboard, it is not possible to
activate the monitor as attached.
The monitor is attached with a mini-DP-to-HDMI cable to the monitor (SONY),

be seen by xrandr.

Title:
Kubuntu 18.04 does not display through mini-DP port on lenovo Helix 2

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
(This is probably related to bug 1816860, but with different hardware
and a different appearance, so it is filed separately.)

Using the levovo Helix 2 attached to its Pro keyboard, it is not possible to
activate the monitor as attached.
The monitor is attached with a mini-DP-to-HDMI cable to the monitor (SONY),
and is - in this case, contrary to the bug mentioned before - detected as can
be seen by xrandr.
But then it gives up after some time (see attachment of System Settings

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1817944] Re: Kubuntu 18.04 does not display through mini-DP port on lenovo Helix 2

2019-02-27 Thread udippel
Is it possible to remove a bug report, please?
I very much do hope so. Reason: I had bought a new cable mini-DP to HDMI
(deleyCon), and found it also not working when booting to W10. Just rushed out
and bought another one, another brand, and it works.

My face is red (I ought to have thought of and swapped the cable!), and
would appreciate a brown bag.

I can only offer my excuses!

Connecting the tablet of the convertable itself with a micro-HDMI-to-
HDMI to that same monitor works fine, however.
