Thank you for your reply, forgot to mention we did this, no difference.
This might be related to

I've tested 2 other desktop systems, same issue. I do not have any usb
v2 to test with.

We have the same issue on a Intel NUC7i5BN on Ubuntu 18.04. This was
working in 16.04.
