  Intel Wireless 8265 / 8275 [8086:24fd] subsystem [8086:0010]:
Upgrading 18.04 to 20.04 causes Network/WIFI Throughput Slowdowns

Status in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
In brief, I upgraded Kubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 Beta.

  STEPS TO REPRODUCE
  1. Connecting to as yet "random"(?) websites (duckduckgo, startpage, and
OMGUbuntu for example) can result in extenuated wait times for page loading.
  2. Attempting to updatwapt leads to failures to fetch.
  3. Connecting to Speedtest.net resulted in 300 mbps upload and download
whereas onnecting to https://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ resulted in a
Connection Has Timed Out Error.

It seems that the error is with some IPv6 configuration. In Ubuntu, I
disabled DNS and Auto Routes and the error went almost unnoticed

  WORKAROUND:

This may have to do with a Kernel Regression or is at least Kernel related?
(This is getting quickly above my pay grade.) I used Grub Customizer to boot

functioning as it should.

2020-08-31 Thread Kh Developer
The only solution I found to that speed drop was to reconnect to Wi-Fi
or turn it off and on again. I'm not a developer and I don't know how to
report with more data.

All I know is that running the command lspci:

01:00.0 Display controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Polaris 22
MGL XL [Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL] (rev c0)
02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 8265 / 8275 (rev 78)
03:00.0 Unassigned class [ff00]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTS525A PCI

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1871408] Re: Intel Wireless 8265 / 8275 [8086:24fd] subsystem [8086:0010]: Upgrading 18.04 to 20.04 causes Network/WIFI Throughput Slowdowns

2020-04-13 Thread You-Sheng Yang
Patrick, firstly you don't need the backport-iwlwifi-dkms for -generic
kernels newer than v5.0 for 8265. It should have been directly
supported.

Secondly, I can reproduce this with current linux 5.3.0-45, linux-
firmware 1.183.5, and this cannot be fixed by upgrading to the latest
8265 fw of core47-142 release[1]. Would take some time to investigate
more.
