Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

This message is flooding my kern.log, messages and syslog

Reason for this message is USB mouse Verbatim Rapier V2 bought on the
beginning of 2009.
Message is flooding my logs since then.

That time I was using 2.6.27 on intrepid.
Then short time 2.6.28 on jaunty.
  Currently 2.6.30-9 from https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa (on
jaunty)
(I will update to 2.6.30-10 but I'm convinced it will not help.)
I tryed also server and rt versions of kernel.

  Similar Bug : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/386671
  Reporter closed as hardware problem.
But I have here 2 same Rapier V2 and multiple notebooks, kernels .. all the
same.

Identical problem on Arch linux bugs: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/15461
  No answer and different mouse.

  Importance of this is low.
In truth, it's only an annoyance.
But as I'm trying to help with bug reports, and it's not very helpful to have
that message all over important logs.

If I misjudged the right package for report, please move it on the right
place. I really don't know which part of the system is doing it (apart from the
"kernel" string in messages).

2019-02-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Stephan Berger, it will help immensely if you use Ubuntu with the computer the
problem is reproducible with and file a new report via a terminal to provide
necessary debugging logs:

2019-02-26 Thread Stephan Berger
I can confirm that the syslog gets spammed with
kernel: [14704.131463] input input10: event field not found

I am also using a Rapier v2 mouse on

4.15.0-45-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 29 16:28:13 UTC 2019 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Cheers, Stephan
