Bryan: AFAICS the thing is that keyutils changes things so that the
id_resolv uid:user@fqdn keys never expire. Without it, they expire
after 10 minutes, and that triggers the bug which my kernel patch
fixes.

I just installed an m3.medium instance, updated to kernel 3.13.0-37.64
(which should contain the fix) and rebooted.

Strangely for me, when I re-installed kernel packages from -proposed above the
same versions from ppa:canonical-kernel-team/ppa, they do work (I rebooted

i've installed and rebooted 16 of the 14.04 hosts so that they are now
running w/the 3.13.0-38.65-generic #lp1383921 kernel. i'll update the
ticket if i see the symptoms recur on this set.

We've been running this as well, however the server hasn't shut down
since we've been running it. Is the log still useful or should we wait
until it shuts down?

could you please file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the following in a
terminal while booted into the default Ubuntu kernel (not a mainline one) via:
ubuntu-bug linux
For more on this, please read the
Donald: The patches catch the kernel exception, so you shouldn't see it
shut down. But you should be able to see the caught kernel panics in the
kern.log
