I can make it a way that it builds not psmouse module but a different name.
And blacklist original psmouse. But it should work normal way. And it works for
me.

I tracked it down to a corrupted VMWare image. For some weird reason
/dev/sda1 decided to have issues (a result of Ext4 in a VM? or perhaps
the host machine not writing out correctly?).

Yes, I believe this to be a regression, since I don't recall having this slow
boot long time ago.
Interestingly GRUB to LightDM with systemd is 45 seconds.
While GRUB to LightDM with upstart is 10 seconds (then I have to wait about
half a minute for the USB
I see the same bug on my Lenovo G50-45. Unloading and reloading the
module as in #56 gets me back online. However, its not a permanent
solution as it will again drop intermittently.

After reboot I have emulation mode again - so I run modprobes again.
It turned out that after I enter these two commands, touchpad starts to
work, but all gnome defined hotkeys break (including fn keys, such as
brightness, and event terminal).

Joseph, the NVIDIA 340.76 driver won't build with Linux v4.0-rc7-vivid
and nouveau since Linux 3.8 broke suspend for NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
(and a bunch of similar cards) so testing suspend with v4.0 is a bit of
a mess.
But I went back to v3.7.10-raring, which I know should work, and I've
nailed
I can confirm that 3.19.0-13-generic fixes the issue with HDMI Audio!
