Except that since I moved away from swapfile to a swap partition (atop LUKS), I haven't had the issue. I haven't checked so I can't say what the CPU load was, or whether there was activity with khugepaged as per bug #1674838. Also had the NMI watchdog soft lockup after the swapops.h BUG
