16.04.
I have some code that uses eventfds to signal things, and the code is
not working -- after writing the eventfd, it does not come back readable
from another thread using poll().
Here's a snippet
Today's 18.04 upgrade from 17.10, using 4k or 1080 monitor with display port or
with HDMI for Radeon RX 460 booting until bios,then screen flashing with
jumbled colors every few seconds, shutdown displays Ubuntu logo.

Confirmed, 4.4.0-119-generic #143 does not solve this problem, still a
hard freeze during boot. Adding "noibpb" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX= in
/etc/default/grub allowed the machine to boot. Interestingly enough my
server is on VMware, so the problem exists there too

Running an Ubuntu 16.04 desktop in a virtual machine (VMware Workstation

Yes, we need to backport this patchset to all the current supported
kernel. Since most of the supported kernel contains the whole RFI infra
structure, I do not expect it to be hard. If you need help, I can find
someone to help on the backport.
