It may be originally a hardware issue, but I am sure it does not affect
Windows, so it should be fixable in kernel code. I am not even sure if
the problem was present on Windows at all.
I can reproduce it with 100% success anytime I want.

This command was instant S3. The screen went black and the power light
immediately began to blink.
However...for lid switch the power light takes around 10 seconds to begin
to pulse, but the state immediately switches.

I have three different machines running Xubuntu 18.04 i386. All are
affected.
After upgrade to kernel 4.15.0-48 the boot process will stop to an almost black
screen with a few multi-coloured lines.
Problem still persists with kernel 4.15.0-50.
Everything works fine with kernel 4.15.0-47.

the package, but as soon as I add the changelog entry to
debian/changelog, building fails with

Now it's fine, maybe changelog entry was broken and dpkg's error
handling was crazy.

Hey,
after updating to linux-image-5.0.0-15-generic, I get a blackscreen of death
forever ; while picking manually the previous linux-image-5.0.0-13-generic, I
can loggin in my system effectively.

hwclock test failed on Power9
Thanks, quickly glancing at this it looks to be different as in crashing
now at a different occasion (when releasing a buffer). I will have to
take a closer look but probably not today.
