I think I have the same issue on my Idea Pad 5, before I got i2c controller
timed out errors, but after a firmware upgrade, I don't see any errors, I'll
try to revert my firmware settings to see if I can restore the previous state
(where after windows is started, touchpad workd on the next
PS: just tested with latest vanilla kernel 5.7.9-050709-generic from
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D, things work. It
seems there's some issue with 5.4.0-40-generic.

* Disabled onboard LAN (r8169) and used a PCIe---(adapter)--->PCI--->Linksys
10/100 NIC (tulip driver).
* Disabled all CPU/Chipset features in the BIOS, all APCI/power savings, sleep
states, turbo, etc.
(Still crashed).

started working again after I disabled the legacy boot option.
Still would like a solution to the timeouts other than rebooting twice, though.

[Regression] 5.4 is not identifying all
I have a Ryzen 5 3600x and I have the same issue. I get freezes where I
can't move the cursor and the only fix is manually rebooting the PC.
Data corruption is something that I'm already experiencing here. Not
sure what to do. I'm not using Ubuntu, though. It is also reproducible
on Ubuntu,

Sorry I failed to notice you can't replace the graphics card as it's a
laptop...
If that error is some other PCIe device then it might be just the wifi
card which is easy to disable or replace.
