bug #1262752 should be fixed in the nvidia-304 in precise-proposed.
As for nvidia-prime, that change makes sense in 14.04, where nvidia-
prime is recommended by nvidia-$flavour. The same doesn't apply to 12.04
though, where only Jockey installs nvidia-prime on systems with 2 GPUs.

Actually, the regression I mentioned turned out to be only a false
positive.
I can't reproduce the problem on my system, therefore I'll need your
help to debug the problem.
1) Please enable nvidia and reboot.
2) Then switch to intel, reboot, and attach the following files:
a) output of dmesg

I think this is a system specific issue (it depends on the BIOS).

This has nothing to do with NVIDIA's proprietary driver. If anything
it's a kernel issue, as vgaarb lives in the kernel and the nvidia driver
doesn't need it.
If you're facing any other issue with the nvidia driver, please file a
separate bug report.

That really looks like a problem in the fglrx binary. It's probably
worth trying the new unified driver, soon to be available in trusty-
proposed.

by reproducing the problem, I meant installing the nvidia-331 package
(do not use the installer from NVIDIA's website), letting the system
crash, and collecting the logs for me.
Also, please do not try to blacklist nouveau. It's all done
automatically. Simply type the following and reboot:
sudo
Michele: can you reproduce the problem and attach the dmesg output, your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log, /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old , and /var/log/gpu-
manager.log , please?
