echo on to all /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb*/power/control doesn't bring
the devices back to life

default usb power
for the records the problem with the keyboard was solved by connecting a
usb2.0 hub between my usb3.0 hub and the usb1.1 devices. everything
still working good with 3.14-rc6. (except suspend/resume but that seems
to be an Xorg driver problem)

it's hard to digest one need to manually upgrade the kernel when using the
latest LTS or a known (and fixed upstream) bug on a very popular wifi driver
will take your whole USB bus out of service
