The first one works as a touchpad. The other two don't.

capabilities. It can be done on any touchpad.

I am afraid, nothing can be done at kernel level. Atheros made a very
poor thing to re-use the PID.
Kernel can't distinguish these adapters. Revision won't help, because we
can't be sure that there is no pre-rome adapter with Rev=00.01.

It looks like it does not report the firmware file if it is successfully
loaded.
You can try to temporary remove firmware from /lib/firmware/ar3k and try
it again.
But this is not crucial. I will send a patch upstream shortly.

Regarding Ubuntu 14.04.3 with 3.19 kernel.
It will work as soon as the patch reaches the stable Ubuntu kernels.
The current patch probably will not work with 3.19.
The easiest way is to upgrade the kernel in 14.04.3 by
sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-wily
This kernel will be default in 1

What is the Ubuntu version? Why not just upgrade your kernel?
If you have Ubuntu 14.04, remove that module and run
sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-wily
it will install kernel 4.2 with this patch already included.
