There was lots of updates for several compiler.
Right after I reboot my PC and go to the -143 kernel. dkms remove
nvidia, dkms install nvidia.
then, modinfo nvidia| grep vermagic now shoes "retpoline".
At this point I know everything was fixed.

hum, we should backport that commit https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-
settings-daemon/commit/?id=c311de7 ... it might be enough to fix the
issue, could somebody try to build unity-settings-daemon with that
simple change and see if it's enough to resolve the issue?

the log doesn't seem to have useful clue ... could you "stop unity-
settings-daemon" and lock/unlock the screen, just to see if that's also
doing it without usd?

@Mario, thanks for testing the fix! I'm going to upload/SRU that one to
start then. Could you run unity-settings-daemon with --debug and share
the log? it might give an hint on what is happening with the other issue
