I'm using Wily with kernel 4.2 so I can't use Your patch.

and 16.10 on different partitions of same laptop HP250. If i
after today updates the wifi works again. thanks.

I have the same problem on my desktop running Ubuntu 18.04, 18.10 and 19.04
with standard kernel and also in 19.04 with last mainline kernel. I don't have
windows on my PC but multi-boot with other Ubuntu partitions.

with installation from some old ISO and happen with all installations from
recent ISO.

Problem remains after updates an reboot, also with new kernel 5.8.
let me know if i must rerun apport-collect
