[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1073029] Re: dv1550se: upower never registers lid-open event though ACPI does
S. Christian Collins, could you please provide the full computer model as noted on the sticker? ** Description changed: I can check the reported state of my laptop lid's status (open or closed) via two methods: - 1) cat /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID/state - 2) upower --dump + 1) cat /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID/state + 2) upower --dump Whether the lid is closed or open is not always reported identically between these two methods. On my laptop, after closing and opening the lid, upower --dump will report the lid as closed, while /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID/state correctly says the lid is open. Using acpi_listen, my laptop generates lid events when the lid closes, but not when it opens. I compared this to another laptop and the second laptop generates laptop lid events both when opening and closing the lid. - I was asked to re-file this bug against the linux kernel instead of - upower, as I originally did, and link the original bug here. So, here - is the original bug report with more information: Bug #561656 - - ** My System ** - OS: Kubuntu 12.04 i386 w/ KDE SC 4.9.2 - PC: HP Pavilion dv1550se laptop - CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz - RAM: 1.5GB DDR400 - Video: Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller - Sound: 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) AC'97 Audio Controller - Linux Kernel: 3.2.0-32-generic - Screen Resolution: 1280 x 768 - ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: linux-image-3.2.0-32-generic 3.2.0-32.51 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-32.51-generic 3.2.30 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-32-generic i686 AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24.
