[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1165938] Re: 1286:2044 [Microsoft Surface Pro] Marvell 88W8797 wifi does not work
I can confirm that with the saucy daily from 20130910 with kernel 3.11.0-7 the wifi works fine until you change the power mode/use the surface without power. I'm getting a kernel bug at that point which disables the wifi. plugging the power back i does notsolve the issue. Also the system hangs on the login screen after booting on battery power. My temp fix for both problems is to disable the /usr/lib/pm-tools/power.d/usb_bluetooth script, Anyone having a similar problem or should i file a completely new bug? ** Attachment added: "kern.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1165938/+attachment/3818235/+files/kern.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1165938 Title: 1286:2044 [Microsoft Surface Pro] Marvell 88W8797 wifi does not work Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The wifi/bluetooth chip that the MS Surface Pro uses, a Marvell avastar 88W8797, does not work properly under Ubuntu 12.10 or 13.04. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1165938] Re: 1286:2044 [Microsoft Surface Pro] Marvell 88W8797 wifi does not work
Shane, as per http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/support /performance-and-maintenance/pro-update-history an update is available for your BIOS (1.04.0350). If you update to this, does it change anything? If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1165938] Re: 1286:2044 [Microsoft Surface Pro] Marvell 88W8797 wifi does not work
So I've noticed that the patch that was applied via Bug #1212720 is the same one that I tried compiling myself a while back. While it seems to sort of work, I'm still getting problems connecting to networks, especially secure networks. Sometimes I can connect, sometimes I can't, and sometimes I'll have to restart because the wifi will completely lock up. Anyone else getting this issue? [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1165938] Re: 1286:2044 [Microsoft Surface Pro] Marvell 88W8797 wifi does not work
Chris, I installed the new kernel. It is nice to upgrad the kernel past 3.8.0-25 and for it to work. Alas the wifi still has three replicated connection. These automiticaly attempts to connect which make the connection dead due to conflicting connection attempts.
