This also affects me, product name output is like this. Wifi switch only

If it is not a UEFI based installation, try a BIOS reset (to factory
defaults). Or, if it is dual-booting with Windows 8, try a hot-reboot
while the wifi is active.

value from 1 to 4, and added the request to post the command output for
model number.

Hi all, this bug is affecting me too on a Asus X550C, tried the workaround by
Hans de Goede wapf=4 and everything is smooth now.

I'm an upstream kernel developer who happened to stumble over this bug.
The proper solution here is to add a dmi based quirk to the asus-nb-wmi
driver to use wapf=4 by default. Note the wapf=4 not wapf=1 which
everyone has been testing with sofar.

I have this problem also on a brand new AsusPro P550C
(There are two hardware setups under the same model number!
One with Mediatek Wlan card and another one with Atheros card)
- Fresh installed Ubuntu 14.04
- The work-around is not working here

Hi all,
Same for me after clean install of 14.04 on new Asus x552v. Wifi icon in
panel were greyed with notification that is hardblocked. I tred rfkill
unblock all but that didnt work. Finaly I followed solution from this
link to enable wifi http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2181558.
Also
Made a clean install of 14.04 LTS on Asus R510C notebook.
FN+F2 not working for wifi.
Works fine after using workaround from

I'm also affected by this issue.
I'm on a Asus U32U running Ubuntu 13.10, and when running Ubuntu 13.04 the
problema already existed!
